Triprayar Sree Rama Temple
The image of Lord Ram (Triprayar Thevar) mirrors the Chaturbhuja Vishnu form, adorned with four arms bearing symbolic elements—a conch (Panchajanya), a disc (Sudarsana), a bow (Kodanda), and a garland.
The temple is situated on the bank of Karuvannur river, which is called as Theevra river while flowing through Thriprayar.
Along with Rama, there are shrines for Shiva as Dakshinamoorthy, Ganesha, Shastha and Krishna, and there is also worship for Hanuman and Chathan.
Tipu Sultan had attacked the temple. To test the divinity of the idol he struck at one of the hands of Triprayar Thevar. Blood started oozing. To make amends he donated to the temple some of the landed property he had annexed.
Mahima – The Importance of Thriprayar Shree Ramaswami Temple
It is believed that the idol here was worshipped by Krishna in Dwaraka.
The deities presently worshipped in the Nalambalams were worshipped by Krishna in Dwaraka during Dvapara Yuga. In the city of Dwaraka which was surrounded by mountains on all four sides, he installed Lord Rama over the mountain named Raivataka, which formed the eastern boundary of his city.
Believed to embody both Shaiva and Vaishnava aspects after vanquishing the asura Khara, Sri Rama earned the title of Khara Samhara Moorthy. The portrayal of Rama with a garland in hand hints at the deity’s manifestation of the Trimoorthis, encompassing facets of Brahma, Shiva, and Vishnu.
